Sightings report image

Date: 05/02/2019

Number: 1

From the International Falls Journal : "Despite Monday’s light dusting of snow, a sign that summer is right around the corner was reported to The Journal this week.

Local pilot Jay Mitchell said he flew May 2 and observed a boat could successfully travel from Rainy Lake’s Island View to Kettle Falls unimpeded by ice, marking the official ice out date for 2019.

“It could have went out (May 1), but nobody was flying that day because of wind and snow,” Mitchell said. “But I can verify it was definitely out May 2.”
