Robin (Nesting Behavior)
Sightings report image

Date: 06/11/2019

Number: 2

Robins are nesting in my cherry tree. I took a picture of the inside of the nest holding my phone up (the nest is extremely high in the tree) when I discovered it, because I was checking to see if it was an active nest. It’s been a double edged sword, because this year I actually have some cherries left for me (they must be keeping other birds away) but they are hard to get because I regularly get dive bombed. They are extremely protective and fly up on our house or the neighbors and puff up their chests whenever I go out to gather cherries.

Sadly yesterday I found a dead robin in my backyard. Probably attacked by my dog. Not sure which parent it was. Not sure what will happen now. There were at least three eggs in the nest on June 11. Not sure when they hatched or if they have but the last week the parents have become way more aggressive so I assume they have hatched.
