We have several hundred milkweed plants in our backyard. This morning we watched a single monarch flit from flower to flower for 20 minutes or so. A friend in the neighborhood first saw a monarch in her backyard last week, but this is the first one we've seen. It's the earliest my friend and I have seen monarchs, which are much more numerous in our area in September.
