Point Pelee National Park
Went into the park this evening just because. Did not expect to see about 100 Monarchs!!
From Tip parking lot & south, all along west path along the shoreline Monarchs were nectaring on thistle & a very fragrant white flower. Saw two mated pairs.
All the way down to the Tip monarchs flitted above west path. Some settled in Hackberry, Hop & Cedar trees. I even saw a couple flashing. A few flitted to end of Tip treeline then encountered strong NE wind & turned back. Premigration has been seen since early July but I have never seen this many this early.
Mostly males id'd & 1 female besides the coupled females.
7-8pm 26°c/79f Mostly cloudy with NE wind at 20-32kmh.
