I am doing some hand weeding on our grassland and am seeing a good number of Monarchs. These are the parents of what will be the migrating generation. Conditions are fabulous for the Monarchs on our grassland this summer. Blooming species right now are Showy and Common milkweed, Purple and White prairie clover, Showy tick-trefoil and Virginia mountain mint.
With all of the Milkweed and nectar plants, reproduction should be good for the traveling Monarchs.
