Monarch Waystation #271 is happy to report nine 5th instar monarch larvae on potted tropical milkweeds in the front yard today! One 4th instar was spotted on one mw plant on the 21st in the midst of a long heat wave. The heat broke yesterday in the midst of 2 inches of rain, and this afternoon sunny I found that the 4th instar had become a 5th [photo attached] on its host plant and had siblings scattered in ones and twos all over the yard on other tropical mws. Glad they all beat the heat as well as the predatory odds so far!
