Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/27/2019

Number: 25

My wife and I went to the Shenandoah National Park to check on the butterflies. We saw hundreds of various types of butterflies; Swallowtails, Fritlaries, checkered white and clouded sulphur. The abundance of the swallowtails were rhe eastern tiger swallow tail and black swallow tails.
There were Monarchs present. They were flitting from thistles, asters and milkweed flowers. They were even chasing the other butterflies away from the flowers.
It was good seeing that many Monarchs at this time in July.
