Lil’ Lill comes by to say hi when I put out fresh nectar every evening and she fiercely defends “her” flower patch closest to my chair Summer Sweet (Clethra alnifolia) in full bloom is getting more action than usual Jewelweed, Bee balm (Monarda), Joe Pye, Milkweeds, Cardinal Flower, Zinnia and common Red Clover are all popular But if I’d known how much hummer action the Whorled Rosinweed (Silphium trifoliatum) was going to get I’d have put in more I planted it for the ground dwelling bees to better waterproof their nests and hope to spread more around for next year
