There was one monarch nectaring on my Mexican sunflowers. Then another monarch came by. They fluttered together in close proximity to each other - kind of circling each other within a foot of each other. Then, one flew away and the other one stayed and nectared on bright lights cosmos and Mexican sunflowers (torch variety) for a long time. This was the first time I’ve seen two monarchs together at my patio. What they did reminded me of courting, but I’m not sure. There was a hummingbird when there was just one monarch that would periodically zoom at and try to scare the monarch away. The monarch was not intimidated.
