Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/03/2019

Number: 2

I watched two female monarchs take turns laying eggs on the same patch of 6 milkweed plants that was next to the water's edge. One female was much older, with faded orange wings, while the other female looked much younger. Each female laid 3 to 4 eggs in the 5 minutes I was watching. This island is truly a monarch sanctuary. I have been coming to this island for 25 years and this year I've seen more monarchs than any other year! It's so exciting!
