Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/05/2019

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 reports a female monarch laying eggs on a Tropical milkweed and attempting to lay eggs on a Swamp milkweed in the backyard today about 3:35 pm as I looked out the patio door window. The Swamp milkweed grows near enough to the heat pump unit to get regularly swayed by the air flow it generates when the A/C runs. During peak air flow any pollinator works hard to get to (or stay on) that Swamp milkweed's flowers, and so does any monarch trying to lay eggs on it. Not sure of the success of any egg-laying, I didn't go out to check. Weather is mostly cloudy, in the high 80s, high humidity, scattered showers possible all day.
