Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/02/2019

Number: 86

We have been tracking monarchs at our cottage near Waubaushene, ON on Georgian Bay for 20 years. On average we see a few monarchs every year and find 3 to 5 caterpillars on our small patch milkweed plants that we leave for them.
This year we have see way more adult monarchs and so far have collected 86 caterpillars which we are keeping safe and feeding. Around 20 of them have now entered the chrysalis stage. This is just amazing!
If this is happening in other areas then there will be a huge increase in the monarch population this year which is very good news indeed!
