Monarch Waystation #271 reports 8 5th instar larvae were sighted as I weeded the front yard 10:30-10:45 am today. They were reported previously feeding on Tropical milkweeds growing in 2 patio pots. Those plants have been stripped bare. Now the larvae are scattered throughout the front yard. Three are feeding on potted Tropical milkweeds in pots and the rest are feeding solo on Common, Swamp, or Purple milkweeds growing in the ground. No diligent search for younger instars was done, the heat index drove me inside soon afterwards.
