Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/11/2019

Number: 1

I was sitting on a bench in a back yard on Baskin Road, Lexington, Mass. with a large, red New Guinea impatience flowering plant hanging on a shepard pole next to the bench. There is woods very near the pole and the woods is in back of the back yard. The hummingbird came twice to the impatience, hovering over it, but did not sip the nectar, probably because it heard me exclaim loudly "hummingbird!". It flew away, but it returned a few minutes later, only to hover and fly away, probably because it heard me again.
