They seemed to be in small groups of 2-4 on the trunks of small willow bushes and another tree immediately adjacent to the Snake River on the South bank. It appeared there may have been some sap on both plants as there were also wasps and 2 other butterfly species attracted to the same location on the trunks. One image I took appears to show a monarch taking nector/sap from the trunk (extended tongue seen). I have images but they are not yet processed.
