4:54pm It's been a sunny, muggy, hot day which has now given way to a fast moving, strong storm. The wind came before the rain and it's about 20-30 miles per hour. I watched two monarchs who only moments before had been feeding in the garden make haste to get high into a huge cottonwood. They were fighting that wind up there but they both made it to cover. Now the rain is pouring down. I often wonder if their is some method to their choosing which tree to shelter in during a storm or overnight. Maybe they can tell leaf size and go for the trees with larger leaves. I hope they're holding on tight because it's pouring out there.
