It's overcast and thundering but no rain yet. 76 degrees and one lone male monarch has finished up for the night and headed to the trees at 7:19pm. First he went to a freshly opened orange zinnia, then purple verbena and last butterfly weed. He never even looked at that tall beauty of a blazing star that all the other monarchs are crazy for. Maybe it was the time of day and those deep colors just stood out better. His wings were in good shape but he looked a little faded. My impression was that he is not Mexico bound but who knows.
