Aug. 16th 2019 7:50 -8:30 pm at the Tip at Point Pelee National Park
Observed 22 Monarchs flitting about over west path. A few settled on Hackberry, bare brances & Juniper. Most had arrived from the north over east shoreline. The wind was greatly reduced from the afternoon. I believe the afternoon monarchs (54) had taken advantage of the favourable wind condition & journeyed south out over Lake Erie. I had seen around 4:30pm three on east side head out over the lake.
Definitely higher than normal activity this August compared to other years. At our home outside the park I still have patrolling males & ovipositing females.. .sometimes 2 or 3 different females.
22°c with light Southerly wind.
