After the hay had been cut around 7/1/19, thick patches of foliage began to grow around the edges of the field near my yard. Upon further inspection, these consisted largely of Common Milkweed, Butterflyweed, and Ironweed. Between 4 and 6 adult Monarchs, as well as Swallowtail butterflies and bumblebees, could be seen flitting about from plant to plant. Two adult Monarchs could be seen chasing each other between 10-20 feet in the air, potentially in an attempt to mate.
