I saw 2 monarchs flying around that appeared to be mating but after closer observation I noticed the female had died and the male had been flying around with her attached for some time. As he landed on one of our butterfly bushes I was able to net him and place him in butterfly terrarium. I managed to grab the female and he fluttered pulling himself loose. We released him and he went for some nectar and flew away. One of the coolest things I've experienced.
