On Friday August 16, 2019 I witnessed a monarch laying eggs on the tropical milkweed in my yard. By August 21, the eggs hatched and roughly 11 caterpillars were foraging. I brought the plants inside to protect the cats from lizards, wasps and milkweed bugs.
