Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 08/25/2019

Number: 1

Adult Male Hummingbird which I believe is a Ruby-throated Hummingbird. It's possible it is a Broadtailed instead, but I couldn't distinguish for sure and I'm leaning toward a ruby-throated. The color on the throat was more orange than red, like the ruby-throated hummers that I'm used to seeing in Pennsylvania. This bird was visiting feeder several times during the afternoon. Feeder is in the shade in afternoon. Water fountain nearby. Hummingbird spent 10 minutes perched in nearby oak tree before beginning to feed. First ruby-throated this fall. Temperature 99 degrees F, Heat Index 106 degrees. Humidity 37%, wind 3 mph.
