Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/23/2019

Number: 1

I believe this monarch hatched in our yard (we have milkweed). I found an empty chrysalis on our house near where I found the monarch. The butterfly was on our tomato plant and then moved to some grass which was getting buffeted by the wind. I added the stick to help stabilize the grass stalk a little. It stayed there for about a day. the next evening we found it in the grass across our sidewalk (wings a little wobbly). I moved it to the cone flowers so it wouldn't get trampled and would have something to eat (i hoped). Later that evening it was gone.
