As of today I counted 36 chrysalises on the sides of my house. In previous weeks the number averaged about 50 chrysalises.

I didn’t record data, but from middle of July to about Aug 23 the average number of chrysalids was 50. Today (8/29/2019) the count is at 31. I have also noticed more butterflies and chrysalids being eaten.

I have a 20' x 6' milkweed patch and a smaller one. My guess is that the proximity, siding, and the angle of the house to the sun are helpful to the caterpillars. Certain sides have absolutely no chrysalids.
