Sightings report image

Date: 08/29/2019

Number: 18

Aug. 29th 2019 at the Tip at Point Pelee National Park!
7-8:05 pm Sunset 8:02pm. 25°c mostly clear with strong SSW wind.
Observed from Tip Shuttle stop to the Tip, 18 Monarchs. One mated pair seen. One individual off west path almost completey buried into the goldenrod blossoms while intensely nectaring. Others were rested individually on bare branches, grapevine or Hackberry trees on the calmer east side. Due to tree damage from high water & wind the east side is almost completely inaccessible to thorough viewing.
North wind the next couple of days should bring more Monarchs down from the north however with favorable conditions they may continue right on through & over Lake Erie.
I use a clicker to count monarchs seen.
