Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 09/02/2019

Number: 100

At the Tip at Point Pelee National Park. 7:05 - 8 pm (sunset 8:03pm)
24°c, overcast & heavy rain upon arrival. Calm. Overnight low forecast 22°c.
Counting Monarchs in the rain....or trying to. About 90 clustered at both the Tip Shuttle stop (2 clusters of about 6 each) & interior trees near Tip (6 or 7 clusters) Largest roost of about 25/30....Take note in the photo of the blurred cluster to the right of frame. I did not notice that cluster until I returned home & looked at the photos. Another 10 or so Monarchs fluttering... & yes..in the rain. Monarchs were roosted on Grapevine & Hackberry trees.
