One Monarch butterfly came out of its chrysalis from under the wheelbarrow next to our Monarch waystation! I was so excited - I had never seen this before, and my husband and I had worked hard to plant swamp milkweed, butterfly weed, and nectar plants - we were soon rewarded! This butterfly formed its chrysalis on August 20 and came out exactly 14 days later on Sep. 3, 2019! He hung there for over at least 2 hours - when I went out to check at about 11:30am, he was already hanging with his wings looking really good, not crumpled. He hung there for a very long time not moving and looking like he was taking a nap. At exactly 2:00pm on the dot, he all of a sudden woke up and started pulling his feet out of the chrysalis and fluttering his wings, then he was off! He fell to the grass under the wheelbarrow, then quickly recovered and flew quickly and high into the undergrowth and oak trees beside our house! What a blessing to witness one of God’s marvelous creations!!!
