Goldenrod is in full bloom, lots of monarchs everywhere the most beautiful site I’ve seen in a long time.
50 + monarchs enjoying the warm afternoon. It was about 5:30 , 74 degrees. I surprised to see so many in the same area of our field usually they are more spread out. I watched the monarchs nectar for over a hour. About 7:00 the sun started going behind the trees. I watched the butterflies leave one at a time headed up into a cottonwood tree just west of the field.
I tried to get a picture but they were up high in the dark green leaves. I know where they are roosting I’ll try to get a photo in the morning when the sun starts shining on the east side of the tree.
