On a cloudy windy morning I noticed 9 or more (there might be three more to the right of the ones in the picture) Monarchs collecting one or a few at a time on the side of these landscape pine trees at the side of the building where I work, out of the wind. On my walk around the building I noticed a few Monarchs flying south. They weren't in the tree later that day. I haven't seen more than three at a time in Saint Paul and Twin Cities area, but remember seeing a tree full along Hiawatha avenue in south Minneapolis in the 80s.
