Goose Pond Sanctuary:This morning (9:00 a.m.) it was cloudy and the 900 monarchs were counted at W7503 Kampen Road, Arlington in the spruce trees in the yard. The monarchs were on the north side of the west four spruce trees. Many were lower than in past days. 1.75 inches of rain last night. At 10:00 a.m. Mark drove to the Jackson Wildlife Unit (north of the driveway to W7503 residence) and counted 220 in spruce and white cedar planted in 1993. There were also a few in flying around the nearby Wood Family Prairie. There are spruce and large trees at the Prairie Lane residence and at three areas of private land with 1.5 miles of W7503 that have had roosting monarchs.
