This is the second day this week (Sunday and Tuesday) that I have seen actually too many to count but in one section of our field 46 monarchs nectaring on goldenrod, thistle, wild aster and other wild flowers of the season. I don't know if these butterflies are hatching out of our waytstation fields or are coming in to nectar for their long journey. September 10th was a hot day 89 degrees with a south wind. The butterflies nectared later today than Sunday till about 7:30pm. Like Sunday the butterflies left one at a time and went into a tree about 30 ft. from our field. I know they are staying in the tree all night but not all together like a roost, spread out under different leaves. When the sun comes out in the morning I see them here and there with their wing spread out.
