I was in the Schrafel WMA on the west edge of Austin, MN and counted 100 Monarchs flying up in front of me as I walked through a field of Goldenrod. I got to 100 in approximately 200 yards of walking. Monarchs covered the field off to the left and right! I guessed there were likely near 1,000 of them! The greatest number I've ever seen in one location.
