I saw 3 Monarchs flying around our buddleia bush after a severe thunderstorm in the late afternoon in S.E. Michigan. We had experienced very hot & humid weather conditions earlier and there were no butterfly visitors at all. It was shortly after 4 p.m. when I noticed the monarchs. One female hung around for several minutes and was nectaring quite enthusiastically. One of the the other two nectared briefly but then took off. Finally the lone female took off also. But around 6:15 p.m. I noticed one of the monarchs had come back and nectared for a while and then took off as dark clouds were building once more and rain started up again.
