Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/11/2019

Number: 2

This picture of two monarch chrysalises was taken on 11 Sep 2019 at 1:29pm CST. Also spotted but not pictured here, was a third new chrysalis. There are two other chrysalises at least 1 week old elsewhere on Wacker that still look viable.

A lot of the milkweed that I can see in public areas has gone to seed. Nectaring sources are diminishing. I am not sure what they will find should these new monarchs eclose.

As noted in a separate sighting, according to [https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/usa/chicago/historic], weather conditions were partly sunny around the noon hour in Chicago, with a high of 90F and low of 86F, winds from the SW at around 16mph. Humidity was 57%.
