Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/14/2019

Number: 2

For about 10 minutes I watched a newly emerged female Monarch adult drying its wings on a small piece of driftwood in my garden. I saw its first feeble and then much stronger SUCCESSFUL attempts to fly. She explored a few minutes on a tree and headed south. Didn't see the chrysalis but I have many milkweeds in my garden. I feel very privileged to have witnessed this beautiful first flight and sent love for a safe journey to Mexico. During this time another monarch was feeding on my butterfly bush.it is 20 degrees Celsius and breezy.
