I went and did a stationary monarch count at Harrisville State Park along the Lake Huron shoreline with very windy conditions just to see what I could observe. I started out at 9AM and finished counting 36 monarchs in directional flight by 1PM. The wind was now gusting to 34 mph, so I decided to walk my regular two mile route and added another 8 monarchs clinging to flowers. I returned to the stationary count and observed 10 more monarchs in directional flight by 5PM. I returned to my house and counted 2 more monarchs in my flower garden by 7PM. I ended up with 56 monarchs counted in 10 hours. Weather was sunny with the Wind SSW-11-34 mph. The Temperature was 57 degrees at the start, and 68 degrees at the end of count with the high at 72F.
