One female hummingbird was feeding from one of my hummingbird feeders on and off all day. It’s clearly a migrant, as it moved around the feeder from one feeding point to another for about five minutes and none of our regular hummingbirds had ever done this. It didn’t come into the garden at all, although we have lots of plants still in flower which our hummingbirds have loved nectaring from. I take it that it’s looking for insects to ingest proteins before continuing its long flight.
