I am reporting this sighting for my son's family in Norman, Oklahoma (I hope this will work for your records by way of the Eastern Shore of Virginia!)Having recently moved to Norman, they planted their first crop of milkweed late spring, but sent photos just now to tell us they finally had some results! There was one caterpillar munching on their milkweed alongside another one in the "j" formation ready to do its thing! At least if and when the butterflies emerge, they won't have far to go for the winter! In my own yard I am out of milkweed, but still have nectaring flowers... There are 3 more chrysalises left to emerge here in my net habitat! Yay!
