We see as many as 3 at a time, sometimes 2 males and 1 female, sometimes 2 females and 1 male, sometimes just 1 female or 1 male. The ones we see near the end of the day might not be the same ones we see early in the day. The rate of nectar use far surpasses what we see during the spring or summer, so a lot of our guests are probably just passing through while stopping to refuel. The males seem to feel compelled to chase each other around to keep control of the feeder(s). The females seem mostly satisfied to enjoy their repast in peace.
