Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/16/2019

Number: 8

It's Sept. 16th and many adult Monarchs have migrated our area, but i'm still seeing some late developing caterpillars like the one shown in photo, which i found on a nearly leafless swamp milkweed plant that rabbits chewed off mid-summer. Adult Monarchs aren't too discriminating on where (wrt: quality/quantity of milkweed plants) they lay eggs. I moved this cat and 7 others i found to better milkweed sources on our residential property. It's getting late in season for these Monarchs to make the journey south.
