Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/18/2019

Number: 3

Today from 2-4 PM I seem to catch them feeding more frequently at the kitchen window feeder. I saw a young female come to feeder twice. She never did sit to eat but hovered each time. She probably knew another hummer was close by to chase her. I did sit in backyard around 4:30-5pm. Everything was really quite & again I was thinking I guess they are all gone when I heard wing sound but could not see where they where. After about 20-30mins. The young return still chasing each other. I don't even know when they eat. All we see from them are chasing & more chasing. I finally spotted what I thought was our female but today she was sitting high up on an old snag with tiny branches in an large Oak Tree. She looked like she was eating tiny flying insects. Looks like she is serious about bulking up as females are next to leave after males. Wow! Where did our Summer go this yr? Hope the young hang around a little longer.
