We have sighted as many as 5-7 hummingbirds in our back yard since mid-July. We have a butterfly garden they sip from, three feeders, and two large crepe myrtles they roost in at night. Activity has been loud and all day, every day for two months, but is tapering off. The two to three daily sightings at this time seem to be visiting hummingbirds. They sit and feed instead of engaging in aerial combat, or defending territory by staking claim on a feeder. We will also go hours without seeing any. I think our goody yard pets are on their way south.
