I expected monarchs to be leaving with the long-awaited tailwind, and it did look as if they were gone in the morning -- with three or four seen heading south -- but by afternoon the tithonias were full of monarchs again. Perhaps it was just a shift southward of the population. Notably, with all the monarchs we've been seeing in the couple of weeks since the first wave departed, I haven't seen even one with a tag.
