Sightings report image

Date: 09/24/2019

Number: 10

1pm I saw two monarchs while I was driving around town and 8 are in my garden. Its 77 degrees, humid and mostly sunny. A storm is coming later this afternoon. The monarchs are feeding on New England Aster and Zinnia. I saw one of them try out a giant blue lobelia and small blue larkspur flowers. I don't usually see them on blue flowers. One of the monarchs is feeding on small bright orange zinnia. It's a new small variety of zinnia only eight inches high but with decent sizes flowers. This is the first monarch I've seen pay any attention to this short but brightly colored zinnia.
