We stopped at several overlooks along the southernmost Blue Ridge Parkway, south of Asheville (from the Mills River Valley Overlook to the Caney Fork Overlook) and saw from two to twelve monarchs at most of them. The time was between noon and 4:pm. The monarchs were feeding on goldenrod, aster, and Joe Pye Weed. The migration is picking up here.
