I had a special opportunity to help a monarch butterfly at work the other day. A co-worker came to my office and said she saw a monarch lying on the ground just outside of one of the campus buildings.
I went to check, and sure enough, there it was, a male Monarch butterfly lying flat on the ground. I'm not sure what happened to it to cause it to lay there on the ground, but I was worried it could get stepped on because it was just outside of a doorway.
I gently put my hand out to pick it up, and it opened its' wings as it sat there on my hand. Then, just a moment later, it started flapping its wings and fluttered away. I hope the rest of your journey to Mexico is a safe one little guy.
