I live in a wooded area outside of Grand Rapids, MI. I saw this little traveler Friday afternoon, after the rains had moved through. You can see a bit of feather damage on one of the wings. He/She was pretty wet and fed on the salvia at least 4 times. I'm curious how to tell the difference between a juvenile male and female, if the ruby feathers aren't prominent?

I have 2 feeders, lots of zinnias, tithonia, morning glories, and the favorite salvia.
