Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/28/2019

Number: 2

After about 4 days of not seeing any hummers one lone adult female and juvenile female spent some time at the feeder before heading south. The juvenile was a real treat as I was putting out fresh nectar and had the feeder in my hands and at face level hanging it up when the juvenile showed up and landed on the feeder and began drinking. It was only a few inches away from my face and I was literally looking eye to eye with it. She was a beautiful little bird and she would chirp now and then and as she left she gave one last chirp as if saying good-bye. She drank so fast and for so long I really don't know where she put all of that "juice." I honestly thought I was going to drop the feeder from holding it at the height it was at. Anyway the experience of being eye to eye with the hummer was WONDERFUL!! I have not seen either of them over the last 24 hours.
