Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Sunday evening we stopped at Wendy Park about 6:45 to take a quick glance on our way back into town from Erie PA. I hadn't seen any monarchs flying over the highway in our travels, but when we got to WP, there were a few random monarchs sailing around that dirt road and the parking lot at the end of it. There were some settling into the willow tree up the bank north of the parking lot and as I took the trail around next to the river and up the bank, there were some settling in, a few at a time, in the trees and shrubs right near the shore. There was really no wind to speak of...I continued to walk toward the grove of trees near the sand volleyball and saw a few other small roosts forming there. It was getting dark but I got a few shots. I assume there will be some there this AM (probably more than I had time to discover) and I wanted others to know.
