Saw a male monarch floating over my yard around 6:20. Fifteen minutes later it was nectaring on cosmos in my yard.

We are having an extreme and record-breaking heat wave accompanied by a drought which has certainly affected the available flowers. This evening when I saw this butterfly it was still 93 degrees with no breeze. Hot, dry weather is predicted into the weekend - more than 90 days above 90 degrees by then.
